Biography:
Dr. Koss is a Regents’ Professor in the Mel and Enid Zuckerman Arizona College of Public Health at the University of Arizona. In her work on gender-based violence she served on the National Academy of Sciences Panel on violence Against Women and testified before the US Senate on two occasions on behalf of rape survivors and women military veterans. She consults nationally with the Gallup Organization, CDC, the Institute of Medicine, and the US Department of Justice. Internationally she works with the WHO and recently served as Rapporteur on gender-based violence at the 4
th Milestones of a Global Campaign for Violence Prevention in Geneva. She sits on the Coordinating Committee of the Sexual Violence Research Initiative, funded by the Global Forum and the Ford Foundation and based in Johannesburg, South Africa. She is co-editor of a two book series Violence Against Women and Children: Critical Analysis and Emergent Priorities that will appear in 2010. in recognition of her contributions the American Psychological Association honored her with its 2000 Award for Distinguished Contributions to Research in Public Policy, the 2003 Committee on Women in Psychology Leadership Award, and a 2008 Presidential Citation. In 2010 she will be the 8
