Biography:
 
Norma Gray, PhD, has extensive experience developing and implementing health promotion/prevention intervention programs with children, adolescents, and adults. With a background in clinical psychology and experience that includes directing a psychology internship training and the treatment of eating disorders, depression and trauma-related disorders, she brings a behavioral health and resiliency perspective to the practice of public health.
 
Her research interests are community-based participatory research and collaborative development of prevention interventions, the health benefits of artistic and creative expression, Native American health, and the relationships between psychological and historical trauma, depression, discrimination, substance abuse and physical health.
 
Dr. Gray and her research team are currently working with the urban Tucson Native American community and recently completed a youth HIV and substance abuse prevention wellness program that incorporated cultural artistic expression and media production. She was also the Principal Investigator for a community-based participatory research grant funded by the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities that explored culturally relevant methodology for the development and implementation of community-based interventions that enhance health and well-being.
