Looking Back — The 2008 Partners in Public Health Luncheon

Interim Dean Iman Hakim welcomes guests at the 2008 PIPH luncheon.

Kelly Reynolds, MSPH, PhD, an associate professor at the UA Zuckerman College of Public Health, spoke about "Where the Germs are:  Staying Healthy in a World of Emerging Infections" on April 10, 2008 at the Arizona Inn, in the Tucson Room.  At right, Interim Dean Iman Hakim welcomes guests at the2008 PIPH luncheon.

Despite dramatic improvements in the understanding and identification of infectious disease causing agents in our environment, new threats continue to emerge.  From pandemic flu and food borne outbreaks to MRSA and antibiotic resistance, microbial pathogens and humans continue to cross paths, frequently resulting in adverse public health effects.  Dr. Reynolds discussed how we are most likely to be exposed to pathogenic microbes and gave sound advice on how to maintain a healthier environment and to minimize illness risks.  Dr. Reynolds has been featured nationally on the Today Show, the Montel Williams Show, in Parents and Self magazines and others.
