Scholarships will pay up to $20,000 per academic year in tuition,
educational expenses, and reasonable living expenses. Scholarships

The Post baccalaureate

Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland and selected off-campus

| NIH Academy |
The NIH Academy is a
post baccalaureate program that provides opportunities for recent
college graduates to spend a year engaged in biomedical
investigation at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in
Bethesda, Maryland. The mission of the Academy is to enhance
research dedicated to the elimination of domestic health disparities
through the development of a diverse cadre of biomedical
researchers. Health disparities are differences in the incidence,
prevalence, mortality, and burden of disease and other adverse
health conditions that exist among specific population groups in the
United States. |

| Technical Intramural
Research Training Award |
Technical Intramural
Research Training Award (IRTA) Fellowships are designed to
produce a cadre of highly trained support professionals capable of
performing the latest advanced techniques in a research laboratory.
These fellowships are available in the intramural laboratories at
the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland and its
environs as well as other locations. In addition to the
developmental experiences afforded to participants in the
laboratory, additional training at accredited institutions as well
as through the Foundation for the Advanced Education in the Sciences
is available. |

| Summer Research
Fellowship Program |
The program is designed
to provide training in research procedures and principles of
independent investigation. Participants will work with senior
research scientists located at the Warren Grant Magnuson Clinical
Center, NIH's 324-bed research hospital located in Bethesda, MD;
other laboratory facilities on or near the campus. In addition to
the laboratory experience, students may attend grand rounds,
lectures and seminars to enhance their educational experience. |

Training |
The Clinical Research
Training Program (CRTP) is a small, year-long program designed to
attract the most creative, research-oriented medical and dental
students to the intramural campus of the National Institutes of
Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Participants, known as fellows, spend
a year engaged in a mentored clinical research project in an area
that matches their personal interests and goals. |

The Clinical Electives
Program (CEP) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) offers 23
rotations in a wide range of clinical disciplines as well as
individualized tutorials for students who desire a total research
experience. The program also provides a meaningful introduction to
clinical studies, which is of paramount importance to individuals
who are contemplating careers in academic medicine. |

These programs are

are enrolled in graduate or medical degree programs and have
permission to interrupt their current education, with the

| HHMI NIH Research
Scholars Program |
Students in good
standing at U.S. medical and dental schools are eligible to apply to
the program. Research Scholars spend nine months to a year on the
NIH campus, conducting basic, translational or applied biomedical
research under the direct mentorship of senior NIH research
scientists. |
