Administration/Finance Internship Duties will include developing worksheets, working with the budget software, organizing, filing and taking notes at meetings. Responsibilities will also include assisting the Board Liaison with other administrative duties, such as preparing mailings and keeping the database updated See Website See Website
Adult Mental Health Services Internship This internship position provides the opportunity to gain knowledge about community-based services for people with mental illnesses. In addition, this position assists with NMHA's Blueprint for responding to Public Mental Health Needs in Times of Crisis, with includes researching materials related to effective crisis response strategies; assisting with the planning, implementation and follow-up of training; and assisting individuals requesting such information. Affiliate Services Internship This position will offer the opportunity to learn the basics of membership services to affiliates with a national non-profit association, including organizational management, board development, and capacity development. See Website See Website
Communications/Media Internship Ideal candidates will have excellent oral/written communication skills, strong organizational skills, research skills and the ability to work in fast paced environment. Knowledge of mental health issues is a plus. Proficiency in Word, Excel and the Internet required. NMHA is conveniently located in Alexandria, Va. This is a non-paid internship. Internships are open to applicants pursuing degrees in communications, public policy, social work, psychology and marketing. See Website
Development Department The NMHA Development Department is seeking an intern to work on a variety of fundraising projects, including corporate, foundation and individual fundraising. The internship offers the opportunity to work in a variety of areas within the organization and will include projects such as developing marketing materials for the department, coordinating end-of-year fundraising programs and assisting with the launch of a new national fundraising program. Healthcare Reform Internship This person will be responsible for tracking state legislation, conducting policy research for conferences and products, providing technical assistance to advocates, and helping to coordinate special events. Juvenile Justice Internship This position will research different subjects relating to children with mental illness in the juvenile justice system in order to respond to media requests and update fact sheets. Other duties will include assisting NMHA affiliates with activity planning and reporting and attending coalition meetings. See Website See Website
