Director, Tribal Epidemiology Center (TEC)
Epidemiology and Biostatistics Department
I have over ten years of practical public health experience as an epidemiologist leading data analyses to develop public health reports and peer-reviewed publications. And, I have more recent experience with strategic planning, managing multiple budgets, program evaluation, and team building. One of my biggest professional joys is working with junior scientists to be their professional best, and I have experience mentoring and managing both Master and PhD level epidemiology staff in a variety of public health work settings. I am presently the Tribal Epidemiology Director with the Inter Tribal Council of Arizona, Inc. (ITCA TEC) http://itcaonline.com/?page_id=128 where I use this diverse skill set on a daily basis. The ITCA TEC is a dynamic ever changing environment, and continues to expand internship opportunities for public health students. Most recently, ITCA TEC is offering internship positions focused toward American Indian youth health, injury, maternal and child health, infectious and chronic disease epidemiology. ITCA TEC has also been selected as a host site for the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention and Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CDC/CSTE) host site for the class of 2014. I do look forward to being involved with the University of Arizona students and faculty in the coming years!
