MPH Public Health Practice (Phoenix Campus)

"I highly recommend the Public Health Practice concentration in Phoenix for anyone looking for a hybrid in-person and online graduate experience. It's allowed me the flexibility to continue my current career and pursue my MPH at the same time."

    Hometown:

    Douglas, Arizona

    Prior Degree(s):

    B.S. Public Heath, University of Arizona

    Before entering the program:

    I have been career focused in my current role as a project data manager in biomarker clinical data management. Although I still work full time I've returned to MEZCOPH to pursue my MPH.

    Why did you choose public health?

    During my undergraduate days, the public health bachelor's degree at UA was growing in popularity and I ended up switching my major to public health for psychology. I loved it and never looked back. Although I had a hiatus in-between my undergrad and graduate career, it was always my intention to return for my MPH.

    Why did you choose MEZCOPH?

    I am an Arizona native and part of the MEZCOPH bachelor's degree alumni. MEZCOPH was my first choice out of all CEPH accredited schools in which I was accepted into.

    Public health interests:

    Aging, Hispanic Health, Infectious Disease, Native American Health, Public Health Policy, Rural Health

    Internship:

    Evaluating the rising cost of housing and its impact on health equity and public health.

    Interests/hobbies outside of school:

    Hiking, attending sporting events such as Arizona Cardinals and Arizona Diamondbacks games, and exploring new cuisine in the Valley.

    Tip for future students:

    Get to know your professors and fellow students. Collaboration in public health is a key component for being successful in graduate school and as future public health professionals.
