B.S. Applied Mathematics, Arizona State University

    Before entering the program:

Before entering the MPH program, I completed my bachelor's degree in applied math then worked for a clinical research organization.

Why did you choose public health?

I had the chance to take courses on cancer, HIV/AIDS, and global health as an undergraduate that helped spark my interest. I like how public health focuses on broader social determinants in order to support the health of entire communities.

    Why did you choose MEZCOPH?

I'm a lifelong Arizona resident, so choosing MEZCOPH for my MPH was a great way for me to remain connected to my home state and communities. I was also interested in the college's opportunities related to cancer topics.

    Public health interests:

Cancer, Disease Prevention, Epidemiology, Health Disparities, Infectious Disease

    Internship:

For my internship, I am working on an analysis of sleep quality in ovarian cancer survivors through the University of Arizona Cancer Center Behavioral Measurement and Interventions Shared Resource.

    Interests/hobbies outside of school:

Outside of school I love hiking, reading, doing yoga, watching movies, knitting, and baking.

    Tip for future students:

Graduate school is a rewarding experience, although it can get busy- save time for yourself to unwind and keep your own health in mind.
