Free Alzheimer’s Education Events in June for Alzheimer’s Awareness Month

[field_image_for_story_view]

Four free “virtual happy hour” events will take place this June 2020 to help promote Alzheimer’s awareness and education. Hosted on Zoom as a Webinar series, the first three events will focus on how food, exercise, and music affect our brain function, and the fourth event will deliver all that information in Spanish.

This series of Alzheimer’s education happy hour events was produced as part of the MindCrowd – Healthy Aging Together pilot study, a research project that will investigate the biological, social, cultural and behavioral factors that affect the process of cognitive aging. Dr. Carol Barnes, Principal Investigator for the project, is a neuroscientist and Regents Professor of Psychology and director of the Evelyn F. McKnight Brain Institute at the University of Arizona. Dr. Barnes works closely with Zhao Chen, PhD, MPH, a distinguished professor and department chair of epidemiology and biostatistics of the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health who leads community engagement for the project.

This series of Alzheimer’s education events was created to increase the community’s awareness on the Alzheimer’s disease by the team at The University of Arizona in collaboration with other researchers at TGen, University of Miami, Arizona State University, and Johns Hopkins University.
