 Andre Dickerson

New Assistant Dean Andre Dickerson brings outstanding experience in student support and recruitment, combined with a proven track record of academic leadership with an emphasis on equity and diversity, to his new role as the head of the Office of Student Services and Alumni Affairs at the Zuckerman College of Public Health.

The college is very pleased to welcome Andre Dickerson, MA, MBA, the new Assistant Dean of Student Services and Alumni Affairs, who will lead the Office of Student Services and Alumni Affairs (OSSAA) for the college. Dickerson brings considerable experience building on progressively responsible leadership positions in higher education, student affairs, social and health sciences, enrollment management, and community engagement for the past 10 years, most of that time with Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington.

Prior to his new role with the college, Andre served as the director of the Center for Leadership and Community Engagement at Central Washington University, where he oversaw the university’s service-learning programs and established partnerships with community organizations with an emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion. He also served as the co-director and program advisor for the Student African American Brotherhood (SAAB) Brother to Brother Male Success Initiative program at Central Washington University. Since 1990, SAAB has been a national leader in providing systems to support young men of color who embark upon and complete post-secondary education.

“I really admire the mission of the College of Public Health, the commitment to support a range of communities through service and programs,” said Dickerson, “I’m passionate about guiding students to success, both in their classes and through internships and community partnerships. And that helps build life-long engagement with the college among students and alumni. Everyone here has been very welcoming to me and I feel blessed to be able to take on this new challenge.”

Dickerson holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Central Washington University, a Master of Arts in Medical Sciences from Heritage University, and a Master of Business Administration from Ohio University. He is currently pursuing his Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education from Azusa Pacific University. Dickerson sees opportunity for the college to build on its success with students from diverse backgrounds, non-traditional students, and transfer students while at the same time working to nurture engagement and community through identity-based support and networking groups.
