AzCRH Webinar: Personalizing Recovery: Individualized Approaches in Treating Substance/Opioid Use Disorder

Recall and understand the key factors that influence substance use and opioid use disorders, including individualized factors such as genetics, mental health, and socio-cultural influences.

Apply knowledge of diverse treatment approaches to analyze and create individualized treatment plans for patients with substance use and opioid use disorders, incorporating strategies like Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and behavioral therapies.

Evaluate current research and emerging trends in the field, and develop strategies to integrate these insights into their clinical practice for improved patient outcomes.

Dr. Natasha Mendoza, Associate Professor at Arizona State University’s School of Social Work, holds a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University. Postdoctoral training at SUNY Buffalo’s Clinical and Research Institute on Addictions honed her expertise in substance use and co-occurring disorders. Dr. Mendoza combines harm reduction philosophy and community research to enhance behavioral health understanding. Her research delves into wellness and identity, examining power and oppression’s effects on behavioral health. As an educator, she focuses on student development in substance use treatment, advocating for a competent, empathic behavioral health workforce.
